Jennifer Hickam, Owner

MA Bilingual CCC-SLP

Jennifer has a passion for working with Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Populations (CLD), which led her to found Colorado Bilingual Speech Therapy, LLC (COBST). Her experience in Denver Public Schools and other Private Practices revealed the extremely limited availability of resources in the Denver Metro area for Spanish speaking families, specifically with regards to the prevention, education, evaluation and treatment of communication disorders. She believes strongly in providing evaluation and treatment of communication delays and disorders for English Language Learners in their native language whenever possible. Jennifer is a huge advocate for Early Intervention and Community Outreach, which she has incorporated into the philosophies of COBST. She also believes in approaching assessment and treatment utilizing a “whole child” approach. Jennifer is an advocate for working with families and students to maximize therapy results. Her dream is to develop COBST into a state-wide resource for Spanish and English speaking families, as well as other CLD populations, for their Speech-Language needs.  Jennifer received her Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish from Metro State University, and her Masters Degree in Speech-Language and Hearing Sciences at the University of Colorado in Boulder. She continues to have a working relationship with CU and has been training and supervising Undergraduate and Graduate students seeking experience with Bilingual Speech-Language Pathology for over 7 years.
